Not an Endless Summer!

Well there's Kirst cooking away in our luxurious kitchen (much better then your caravan Rick) and she has been trying new recipes in the ecopot (Rich you would be impressed) but to mixed reviews.  The lamb stew was just ok but the pumpkin barley risotto went down quite well.  Pulled out the new gasmate barbee on the first night in Cann River and had a meal cooked in no time (well done Gazza), went down great with a nice red. Note the heater in the background.
And there are the little devils pretending to be studious for their teachers.  You can see their bed in the back which they are still getting used too (maybe a little cramped for 3 growing boys).  In Jindabyne the temperatures have been reaching the lofty heights of 34deg  farenheit so it hasn't exactly been inviting for the boys to be outside so the Goldstream Storm has been living up to its name this week.
There is the mighty Storm from the outside with the annex that nearly blew over on the first night in Jindabyne with gale force winds blowing down off the mountains.  All up it takes us about an hour to set up with a lot of help from Joan and E who decided to join us on our first part of our trip and gave us a much needed hand.
There has been quite a bit of teething with people stopping us because of smoke billowing out of the back of the camper (brakes too tight), quite a few water leaks (the filter is great though Pauly), everything frozen in the fridge, nearly took the pod off the roof going into a supermarket carpark, and had to leave behind a few surfboards, massage table, etc. so we could actually have some room to sit and eat and sleep.

All of us have had a go at fishing with little success using the power bait.  Ran into a kid down the lake who was reeling them in on just a kids lure (don't always listen to the experts).  Went up to Charlottes Pass today (absolutely beautiful views across the ski slopes) and did a Bear Grylls river crossing and had some quality snow ball fights.  Quite a bit of snow on Kosciousko but we are planning to summitt tomorrow from Thredbo.  If we make it to base camp and the weather is clear enough we are going for it!
The boys are showing off their new ski jackets Kirst picked up from Vinnies in Cooma for $10, what a bargain, and Nathanial has the power bait in his hot little hands.

Joan and Big E just before they stripped off and went for a skinny ice breaker.
Also special mention to the Haw family we met at Cann River doing the same thing as us- the Halls and the Haws- gotta love it.
